Jim and I take frequent trips to the Twin Cities because we both have family and friends there and the gallery that represents me, Douglas Flanders and Associates, is in Minneapolis. It’s about a three hour drive, which we break up by taking walks in parks along the way. Last year we discovered a little regional park in Rice, Minnesota called Bend in the River. It’s a lovely spot with a path along the Misssissippi and an old farmstead from about a hundred years ago.

We also stop at a park in Little Falls that is very beautiful, called Charles A. Lindbergh State Park. There are paths along the Mississippi River and Pike Creek. Here’s are two recent works from the park:
Just south of Brainerd, there’s another jewel of a park called Crow Wing State Park, which has many trails along the Mississippi and Crow Wing Rivers. I’ll include two recent paintings inspired by this park.
