Thanksgiving 2016

Lakewood Avenue, 48X48″, Oil on canvas, 2016

There is sadness over holidays, thinking of family that has gone.  This year, Jim’s mom died at 93 and we really miss her.  We even miss Jim’s home town–Albert Lea, Minnesota, the subject of the above painting.  The family home has sold and there really isn’t much to bring us back to the place, besides a lumber store that Jim really likes and a beautiful landscape.  The town is quite lovely, with lots of paths around Fountain Lake and a great dog park.  Nearby is (Helmer) Myre Big Island State Park, which has inspired a lot of my paintings.
