There is something very satisfying in painting those places that are most familiar to me. It’s an act of love. It’s that feeling of being away for a few days and finally rounding Lake Hattie Road, nearly to the turn that takes us home. I love being home. My husband and dog and I walk along this road nearly every day of the year. We have seen eagles and swans flying overhead, listened to the loons calling back and forth, heard frogs singing in the spring and watched mud turtles burying their eggs in the sandy road.
