This is my favorite time of year for painting. The weather was very cold for several weeks, which meant my walks were short and I spent more time painting. The below zero days are often beautiful—clear blue skies that create wonderful shadows on the landscape and highlight every little branch of the trees. This first painting, Winter Path, is such a day. The painting is 54X72″, just completed last week:
It’s warmed up right now and so the sky is overcast and bleak. Here’s such a scene I completed last month. It’s called
Lake Hattie Road 1 and is only 20X24″— a little one!
